Tenth Anniversary of MH17 Crash
Russia Found Guilty
Four Prorussian Officers Charged
Ten years ago, on July 2014, Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 crashed in the eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board. The plane was shot down by a Russian-made missile, and an international investigation concluded that Russia was responsible for the attack.
In the years since the crash, four pro-Russian officers have been charged with murder. The trial is currently underway in the Netherlands, and the prosecution has asked for life sentences for the defendants.
The trial is a major step towards justice for the victims of the MH17 crash. However, it is also a reminder of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine and the dangers that continue to face civilians in the region.
