Musiala and Gündogan Fire Die Mannschaft to Victory
Hungary Stunned in 2-0 Defeat
Leipzig, Germany - Germany secured their place in the last 16 of Euro 2024, becoming the first nation to qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament. Goals from Jamal Musiala and Ilkay Gündogan sealed a 2-0 victory over Hungary in a Group A clash.
Musiala opened the scoring in the 20th minute with a clinical finish, while Gündogan doubled the lead in the second half from the penalty spot. Hungary, who had stunned Germany with a 1-0 victory in the UEFA Nations League in June, were unable to find a way back into the game.
The result means Germany have now won both of their Euro 2024 matches, following their 2-0 victory over Liechtenstein in their opening fixture. Hungary, meanwhile, remain on one point after their draw with Austria and must now beat both Germany and Liechtenstein in their remaining games to have any chance of qualifying for the last 16.
